Please welcome Joelen Pastva, our new metadata librarian, to the Galter Health Sciences Library. Joelen joined the team on June 1, 2016 and has extensive cataloging experience at a variety of institutions. She comes to the Galter Library from the University of Illinois at Chicago where she worked as a metadata/catalog librarian on numerous projects that involved many library departments. Her broad experience working with all aspects of library metadata, such as database maintenance, authority work, and standards instruction in a variety of environments, give her a unique perspective. She earned her master's in library science degree from the Pratt Institute and also has an MA in Russian and Slavic Studies from New York University. Her research interests include: ontology development, improving user experiences through library metadata, and technical service workflows. Joelen is a current resident of Highland Park, IL and enjoys traveling, cooking, and nature writing. Welcome, Joelen!
