Curious about h-indexes and journal impact factors? Confused about field citation ratios and altmetrics scores? Galter Library's Metrics & Impact Core has unveiled a Metrics Guide, featuring a variety of metrics and indicators to help assess research outputs. Many of these metrics are bibliometrics, or citation-based metrics, and can be categorized into three silos:
- Author-level metrics attempt to measure the citation impact of an individual (e.g. h-index)
- Article-level metrics attempt to measure the citation impact of a single paper or group of papers (e.g. raw number of citations)
- Journal-level metrics attempt to measure the citation impact of journals (e.g. journal impact factor)
