The Galter Health Sciences Library made significant strides in 2011. Here's a selection of our accomplishments:

• Redesigned the library’s website.
• Unveiled GalterSearch Beta, the library's new search engine that queries multiple sources at once. We continue to tweak and improve.
• Completed our part in the Google Books Project.
• Organized several special exhibits and events in Dollie’s Corner, and displays in the Eckenhoff Reference Room.
  • Dr. Meryl H. Haber was honored for his generous gift in an unveiling ceremony.
  • Photographing Pediatrics.
  • A Brief History of Northwestern’s Dispensaries and Outpatient Clinics: Part 1 and Part 2.
  • John Benjamin Murphy: An American Original.
• Received an award to create a Mac collaboration space in the Learning Resources Center with the aim of improving and supporting the student and faculty collaboration experience.
• Switched to authenticating users by NetID on our website.
• Weeded and relocated collections.
• Pruned, but also added to the library’s collection. Check out all the new titles and resources added in 2011, including PsychiatryOnline.
• Added two carrels and wireless access to the designated Silent Study area on the lower level of the library.
• Jumped onto Facebook and Twitter.
• Participated in Open Access Week.
• Updated display options for GalterLists.
• Streamlined how to submit and manage course reserve requests.
• Made easels and poster boards available to all departments in the Feinberg School of Medicine for use on the Chicago Campus.
• Extended our loan period for circulating books from 28 days to 12 weeks.
• Replaced all the chairs in the LRC and first floor conference rooms.
• Hosted a special EndNote training event.

Here's hoping 2012 will be as productive and successful!
