This class provides researchers with the fundamentals of BLAST sequence searching and multiple sequence alignment.
By the end of this class, the user will be able to:
- Locate nucleotide or amino acid sequences and select the correct format for BLAST
- Understand the fundamental functionality of a BLAST search and how the scoring matrix affects the search
- Know the difference between BLAST and BLink
- Be able to perform BLAST, PSI-BLAST and multiple sequence alignments
This class is approximately 1.5 hours long.
