Interlibrary Loan Lending to Other Libraries

PDF

The following information is for individuals and libraries who are not affiliated with Northwestern University, and who wish to borrow items from the Galter Health Sciences Library collections.

For Libraries: The Galter Health Sciences Library provides individuals at other organizations access to the circulating collections at Galter through interlibrary loan. Request must be made from another library via DOCLINE, OCLC or an ALA ILL request form. ALA form based requests must comply with sections 4.4, 4.8 and 4.14 of the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States. Phone requests, e-mail request and visits by individuals are not allowed. Non-reciprocal institutions are billed for filled requests using the following scale: $11.00 per item via EFTS, $15.00 per item via IFM or printed invoice for a DOCLINE request, or $20.00 for non-IFM OCLC requests and ALA form requests.

For Individuals: As the library is closed to non-NU affiliated individuals, individuals who have identified an item in the Galter Library's collection should request the item via ILL through a library with which they are affiliated and the item will be sent to the individual's home library (Code 1.1).

Individuals who are not affiliated with any library may be interested in our Loansome Doc service which provides document delivery services for non-affiliates for a fee.
