February 8-12, 2021 is the annual observation of Love Data Week, an international celebration of all things data-related. Check out the list below for some tips and resources to give your data a little TLC:

Last October, Biosciences and Bioinformatics Librarian Pamela Shaw shared with the FSM community an update on the Final NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing. The policy states that beginning in 2023, all NIH proposals must include a two-page data management plan outlining how data and metadata will be managed and shared. Awardees are encouraged to use “established repositories” for sharing data, which can include the FSM institutional repository, DigitalHub.

Data Visualization Challenge

Beginning on Monday, February 8th Northwestern students can show off their data visualization skills by taking part in a Data Visualization Challenge. You can use any type of data which you have the rights to use and a visualization method of your choice. First prize is $250! Entries are accepted through March 29, 2021.

Code Ocean workshop

On February 11, 2021 from 1:00 - 2:30pm, NUIT’s Research Computing Services will host a workshop called Code Ocean for Researchers. This training session may be of interest to researchers who want to create and document code for collaboration and for computational reproducibility. No prerequisites are required for this free training on the Code Ocean platform.

NNLM Open Data programming

The Network of the National Library of Medicine is offering special programming this week on the topic of Open Data. Sign up for a half-hour coffee chat or register for a panel discussion on Friday, February 12.

During the current period of increased work-from-home due to COVID-19, Galter librarians have been offering workshops online through Zoom. We’re currently recording frequently requested workshops and posting them to DigitalHub for download (NU NetID will be needed to access).
