Galter Health Sciences Library & Learning Center seeks an innovative and energetic ontologist to create ontologies, implement semantic data-integration strategies, and develop ontology-guided tools in the context of library projects, including the recently awarded CTSA Program Center for Data to Health Coordinating Center (CD2H). Efforts include but are not limited to contributing to the Open Resource Identification Framework (OpenRIF) initiative, through which the appointee will work collaboratively with colleagues and the community to develop attribution/credit data models and a comprehensive research output ontology. Other duties include authoring of publications, teaching and educational activities, contributions to grants and funding applications, and collaborations with the community-wide efforts aimed at promoting open, integrated, and rigorous practices in research and scholarly communication. We are looking for a highly motivated and interested individual with demonstrated expertise in informatics, ontology development, curation, and related technologies.
Digital Innovations Specialist
Galter Health Sciences Library & Learning Center seeks an innovative and energetic individual to provide leadership for digital initiatives at Galter Library. The Digital Innovations Specialist works with a wide range of campus stakeholders to develop and implement programs that increase awareness about digital scholarship and issues in the digital environment among faculty, researchers, and students at Feinberg School of Medicine. This position works with library colleagues on preservation and access to scholarly outputs through a digital repository and other digital means and is expected to act as a contributor to greater campus-wide digital preservation activities. This position will collaborate on digital initiatives at Galter Library and be empowered to explore new areas of digital growth and opportunity for our campus. Galter Library is a forward-looking library in both principle and in practice and we are eager to welcome an entrepreneurial and experimental professional to our team.
Galter Health Sciences Library & Learning Center seeks an innovative and energetic data professional to support robust data practices and promote data discoverability in support of the operations of a data index. The Data Index will be built as part of the recently awarded CTSA Program Center for Data to Health Coordinating Center (CD2H). The CD2H was established through a 5-year award from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) and will coalesce and coordinate informatics activities across the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program, a network of more than 50 medical research institutions, to provide collaborative clinical and translational research infrastructure. A key demonstrator of the data index tool will be a cross-campus lifespan data initiative at Northwestern University from the DevSci Institute focusing on developmental sciences across the lifespan. Working collaboratively with librarians on both campuses, researchers, and IT teams, this full-time, non-tenured faculty librarian will lead outreach of the project to the university and engagement of stakeholders with deposit, management, and preservation of data assets across interdisciplinary research topics. In cooperation with the Head of Digital Systems at Galter Library, as well as other relevant faculty and staff throughout the libraries on both campuses, the successful applicant will provide leadership and direction on this project that advances the strategic direction of Northwestern University through better access and discoverability of data. This position will participate in secondary assignments based on qualifications, interests, and need.
